Tibumana Waterfall

Tibumana Waterfall is one of the unique waterfalls in Ubud and a must-see in Bali. It’s a peaceful, less-crowded spot where you can relax, swim, and enjoy the island’s natural beauty. It’s perfect for a quiet escape into nature.
Hey guys,
Tibumana Waterfall was by far my favorite. It’s one of those special spots that feels like a hidden secret. This beautiful waterfall is perfect for spending the day exploring lush rainforest surroundings and swimming in natural rock pools.
Bali is one of those magical places that proudly hoasts over 100 waterfalls, and they’re still discovering more! These waterfalls are scattered all over the island; some are easy to reach, while others require a bit of effort but trust me, they’re totally worth it.
Why Tibumana Waterfall Is Worth Visiting
Tibumana is surrounded by dense jungle and it offers a peaceful escape and a refreshing swimming spot. Unlike some of the more famous waterfalls like Tegenungan, Tibumana is usually less crowded and that’s a huge part of its charm.
If you’re looking for a more intimate and crowdless waterfall experience in Bali, Tibumana is your spot. It’s really close to Ubud and easy to access, yet feels completely tucked away in nature.
How to Get to Tibumana Waterfall
Tibumana is one of the closest waterfalls to popular tourist areas like Ubud, Kuta, Legian, and Seminyak. It’s about 16 km from Ubud and 42 km from Seminyak. It’s smaller than Tegenungan Waterfall, but that’s what makes it special, fewer people, more peace.
Transportation Options:
- Grab App – I used Grab a lot while in Bali and it worked perfectly! If you’re in a group, order a car. If you’re solo or in pairs, I highly recommend taking a scooter, it’s faster, especially with Bali’s infamous traffic.
- Private Tour Driver: I highly recommend my private tour driver, he was super professional and flexible with my itinerary. You can contact them at Bali Driver & Tour Guide via WhatsApp at +62 812-3837-4968. Tut, the guide, usually replies quickly and can pick you up from anywhere.
- Renting a Vehicle: This is the least recommended option. Driving in Bali can be intense, i’m not joking. We witnessed a scooter accident involving a young couple, so please think twice. If you do choose this route, use Bali Car Finder for options.
Entry Fees
- Entrance is 20,000 IDR (cash only) which is around 1.30$
- You will be asked to pay a parking so if you are coming with a car it will cost around 10,000 IDR (~$0.60), and if you are coming with a scooter around – 5,000 IDR (~$0.30)
Keep in mind that the prices may change, so always bring a bit of extra cash.
What to Expect at Tibumana Waterfall
Adilla’s Spot
Before reaching the waterfall, you’ll pass a breathtaking narrow road lined with palm trees, absolutely worth it. There’s a small fee of around $2 to access this road, and I highly recommend stopping for a walk and some photos.

The Path
The trail to Tibumana is a dream – colorful, green, and easy to follow. There are just a few stairs, nothing too intense. At the valley, you’ll see signs directing you to a small temple on the right and the waterfall on the left. The temple isn’t spectacular, but it’s worth a quick stop since you’re there. The path winds through a lush jungle, and you’ll even pass a small waterfall before arriving at Tibumana. The tropical vibes and birdsong made me feel like I’m stepping into a nature documentary.
There’s a changing room if you want to get into your swimwear before heading down.

Swimming Rules at Tibumana Waterfall
There are few rules we need to follow when at the waterfall, so when you are there (or now) take a few minutes to read the rules
- No swimming directly under the waterfall as the strong currents and falling rocks make it dangerous.
- Stay away from cliff edges as there is a risk of falling rocks.
- Don’t enter the cave, there’s a local myth about a cave behind the falls, but it’s off-limits and unsafe.
- Take your trash with you and make sure you help keep the area clean.
Follow all posted signs as they’re there for your safety.

Grab a Bite After: D'carik Tibumana
After your waterfall adventure, grab a bite at D’carik Tibumana, this place is amazing. The view is incredible, the seating is authentic and relaxed, and the food – really delicious, it’s very clean and safe. We tried the noodles, rice, babek (duck), and a few beers and it was the perfect way to chill after the waterfall.

Tibumana Waterfall Nearby Attractions to Explore
The location of Tibumana is great as you will have the option to explore few other amazing places if you are up to it, here are my suggestions:
- Tegalalang Rice Terrace – A surreal view. Go early or late for fewer crowds and better lighting.I went there in the afternoon around 4 – 5 PM and it was almost empty. The iconic swings are here too.
- Luwak Coffee Plantation – Here you can learn how Bali’s famous coffee is made and enjoy a unique tasting experience. Also they have a great selection of tea , which you can try and buy later. The sitting area again is perfect – jungle everywhere.
- Taman Sari Waterfall – Just 2–3 minutes away, peaceful and less visited waterfall.
- Kanto Lampo Waterfall – A cascading waterfall perfect for photos. Be prepared to wait your turn , I had to wait about 30–40 minutes, even early in the day.
- Tukad Cepung Waterfall – A stunning waterfall inside a cave, with sunlight streaming through the top. A magical spot you shouldn’t miss. And if you love taking pictures this would be a great spot.
Tibumana Waterfall is one of Bali’s true hidden secrets, peaceful and not overly touristy. It’s easy to reach, affordable to visit, and packed with natural beauty. If you want a quiet swim, a nature walk, or a break from Bali’s hustle, this place is a perfect pick for you.
My final tip: Make it part of a mini waterfall day trip and combine it with nearby attractions. Trust me, you’ll leave with a full heart and a full camera roll.
