Hey guys, this blog post will be something a bit different. I know we all love to travel and explore, but sometimes what we really need is a nice and fancy vacation on a tropical island with the most beautiful palm beaches and delicious treats.

I’m gonna share with you everything you need to know about Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana Resort in the Dominican Republic, a place where I definitely left my heart, not only because of the magnificent surroundings but also because of the amazing people who made everything so much more special.

How to get to Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana Resort

I traveled with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday at this special place, and our journey began with a direct flight from Madrid to Punta Cana, lasting around 9 hours.
Once we arrived at Punta Cana Airport (PUJ), we were instantly swept up by the tropical vibe. The airport was so interesting and different from what we’re used to , think thatched roofs, open-air terminals, lush palm trees everywhere, and happy, smiling people. The design of the airport felt surreal and set the perfect tone for a Caribbean getaway.

For transfers to the resort, you have a few options:

However, I’d recommend using one of the first two and booking in advance. It’s much cheaper and more convenient, plus both companies have amazing reviews. You can choose from different vehicles and price ranges, but expect to pay between $50–$100 depending. The resort is around 40 km from the airport and it will take you about 1 hour to get there, depending on traffic. We landed in the evening, so it was quite fast for us.

Arriving and Accommodation at Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana

Once you arrive at the resort, you’ll be amazed not only by how stunning it is but also by the warm welcome from the staff. They greet you with a glass of champagne and politely help you with your accommodation. You can even hop on one of the golf carts to get to your building since the resort is quite large and spread out.

In terms of accommodation, there are a few choices: standard options, club options, and upgraded ones.
We booked the Standard Tropical View King and Standard Tropical View Double, and honestly, they were just perfect. The rooms were spacious, elegantly decorated, and had everything we needed. The balcony with a garden view was ideal for morning coffee or winding down in the evening.

You’re definitely not going to spend all your time in the room, so don’t overthink it, they’re all great. Of course, you can also choose a Pool/Garden Walk-Out room. I did this in Mexico once and it was really nice as well.

Prices vary, but the most basic ones are around $200 per night.

Restaurant , Bars and Other Facilities

The restaurants and bars are without a doubt one of the best things at the resort.

As you probably already know, this is an all-inclusive resort, which means you have sooo many options on-site. Besides the traditional buffet , where you’ll find everything from fresh tropical fruits, smoothies, ice cream, salads, meats, fish, and tons of desserts, there are also several à la carte restaurants:

    • Umi (Asian)
    • Bella (Italian)
    • Costa Azul (Seafood)
    • Brasas (Grill)

No reservations are needed, they work on a first come, first served basis.

On top of that, there are several bars at the pool and beach areas where you can grab drinks, and some cute cafés like the Coco Bar, which became my favorite. There’s also a bar with a small stage that comes alive in the evenings with live singers or dancers, where you can even learn bachata or other Caribbean dances. Highly recommend giving it a try!

My absolute favorite was The Palm, right by the beach. You can grab something refreshing, snack a bit, and chill on the swings.

When we had early tours, we also loved using the room service breakfast. It was super convenient.

    The Beach and the Pool

When you visit a place like this, you’ll spend a lot of time by the pool or the beach. And Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana really shines here.

They actually have the largest pool area in the Dominican Republic, which blew my mind. The water is amazing, the surroundings are beautiful, and of course there are pool bars where you can grab a drink. One of my favorite parts was the area with the flamingos, they were so cute walking around the resort and pool.

But the absolute best thing is the beach. The resort is located on Uvero Alto Beach, and it’s just breathtaking. Clean, soft sand, turquoise waters that literally call you in for a swim. I loved the little palm tree areas where you can relax in the shade and read a book. There’s also a club members’ section for upgraded reservations.

Entertainment at Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana

If you’re not in the mood for a chill beach day, there are plenty of things to do:

    • Water sports (included in the stay) like kayaking, snorkeling, paddleboarding
    • On-site water park (included as well) and perfect for kids
    • Spa and fitness center
    • Evening entertainment with live music, bachata and salsa lessons
    • Beach parties, we caught one, it was really nice.

The resort also offers wedding experiences, and I was lucky enough to witness one on the beach, it was absolutely stunning and soooo romantic.

And let’s not forget the coffee spots for a cozy afternoon break.

    Activities outside of the resort

There are plenty of things you can do outside of the resort, so here are some of my recommendations:

    • Saona Island – This place is just an absolute dream. Definitely top of my list and fully recommend it , you can read the full experience here.
    • Coco Bongo Night Showa must do to experience. I had the chance to see the show in Mexico, and believe me, it’s more than worth it. If you ever get the chance, just go, you won’t forget it. The show takes place only in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, with Punta Cana being the very first and only location outside of Mexico. So don’t hesitate, book it—we had an absolute blast!
    • Swimming with Dolphins – I never get tired of this. It was so much fun, I tried it and I do recommend it for both adults and kids.
    • Buggy Adventures – some of my friends tried it and were very pleased with the experience so I would like to recommend it , plus it is also mentioned on the official web page of the resort.
    • Ziplining – if you enjoy such activities you will have plenty of choices in Punta Cana. I’m leaving the link so you can take a look at all the different experiences you can choose from and maybe even combine them with some other activities.
    Saona Island

My stay at Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana  was nothing short of magical. Between the stunning surroundings, delicious food, warm service, and endless activities, it was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Exactly what I was looking for.

So, if you ever visit the Dominican Republic (and you should!), and you’re looking for a full all-inclusive tropical experience, definitely check out this resort and all the activities around it.
